Senate Bill (SB) 907 (Statutes of 2003) established the Bureau of Naturopathic Medicine within the Department of Consumer Affairs. The Bureau will administer the Naturopathic Doctors Act. This law specifies various standards for the licensure and regulation of naturopathic medicine that the Bureau will enforce.
Assembly Bill (AB) X420 (Statutes of 2009) established the Naturopathic Medicine Committee under the Osteopathic Board of California.

(August 12, 2011) - Bastyr University announced today its new campus will be located in San Diego, CA, with plans for the first class to begin in Fall 2012.Bastyr University's California campus will be located at 4106 Sorrento Valley Boulevard in the heart of San Diego's life sciences cluster, and approximately 14 miles north of downtown San Diego via I-5. It is within walking distance of public transportation, and within a short drive of the University of California San Diego, Scripps Hospital and the VA Hospital.
San Diego was selected because of its strategic proximity to a significant number of prospective students, faculty and patients in Southern California who are interested in the natural health arts and sciences. The Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree program will be offered when the school first opens, with other degree programs expected to be offered in the future.
Bastyr, founded in 1978 in Kenmore, Washington, is the largest university for natural health arts and sciences in the U.S., combining a multidisciplinary curriculum with leading-edge research and clinical training in fields such as naturopathic medicine, acupuncture and Oriental medicine, and whole food nutrition.
